PROTECT THE VOTE
- You can help protect voters’ rights as a nonpartisan election protection volunteer.
- Are you a lawyer? Volunteer to provide nonpartisan voter information and document problems.
IMPORTANT CALIFORNIA DATES & INFO
- MONDAY, OCTOBER 7 – County election officials will send out mail-in ballots to all active registered voters. If you have moved or haven’t voted in the last few elections, you may need to request a mail-in ballot.
- TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8 – Ballot drop off locations open. Track the status of your ballot.
- MONDAY, OCTOBER 21 – Deadline to register to vote. Your registration must be completed online or delivered by October 21.
- TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22 – TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5 – Same day voter registration: If you miss the deadline to register, you can “conditionally” register to vote up until and on election day at the county election office, polling place or vote center. These ballots will be processed and counted once the county elections office has completed the voter registration verification process.
- SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2024 – Vote centers open early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties.
- TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27 – Vote-by-mail application deadline. All active registered voters will automatically receive a vote-by-mail ballot by October 5. However, if you are not an active voter or if you need a new ballot because you made an error on the original one, you must apply by October 27.
- TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5 – ELECTION DAY. Polls in California are open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Returning ballots: Ballots delivered in person must be received by the close of the polls on November 5. Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before November 5, and received no later than November 12.
