New Writers' Deal Hub Releases

Using data from more than a thousand writer deals made since the 2023 MBA went into effect, the Guild is releasing new guides on the Writers' Deal Hub: a Pilot Deal Guide and a Series Compensation Guide.

In the new Pilot Deal Guide, you’ll find median and maximum rates for one-hour and half-hour pilots, script fees, episodic fees if the series is picked up, and series sale bonuses. The guide also offers advice on overscale span protection for your writer clients’ pilot contract, how to look out for abusive free work in if/come deals, and identifies potential MBA violations if your deal includes below-minimum pay in post-production.

The Series Compensation Guide includes medians and maximums for episodic and weekly rates, as well as guidance on development room premiums.

Both are part of the Guild’s Writers' Deal Hub, a centralized resource dedicated to helping members and their reps leverage better overscale pay in negotiations with the companies. Stay tuned for an updated Screen Compensation Guide, which will be released in the coming weeks.
