WGAW Statement on Transgender Civil Rights

The WGAW has issued the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s continued attack on the civil rights of transgender and gender nonconforming people.

Los Angeles – The Writers Guild of America West has issued the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s continued attack on the civil rights of transgender and gender nonconforming people.

“The Trump Administration has taken another step in its attempt to rollback protections for transgender and gender nonconforming people by arguing to the Supreme Court that federal civil rights laws don’t protect them. The WGAW opposes this ill-conceived position. Equality under the law is a principle we hold dear as a nation and the Guild strongly opposes any effort to undermine the efficacy of our country’s anti-discrimination statutes.”
