WGAW President David A. Goodman has been writing professionally since 1988, when he was hired as a staff writer on The Golden Girls. Since then he has written for over 20 television series, including Wings, Dream On, Star Trek: Enterprise, Dads and Futurama. He has also served as showrunner/executive producer on American Dad, and Allen Gregory starring Jonah Hill. But his best-known work is on Family Guy, where he was head writer and executive producer for over a hundred episodes. He currently is a showrunner/executive producer of The Orville on Fox, starring Seth MacFarlane. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Writers Guild of America West since 2006, was elected Vice President in 2015, and President in 2017. A graduate of the University of Chicago, he lives in Pacific Palisades, California with his wife and two children.
