Born into a farming family in rural Texas, Allen was pretty much always laser-focused on writing for TV—much to the bewilderment and concern of his family. After attending The University of Texas at Austin and earning a degree in Radio-Television-Film, he booked it to Los Angeles, worked in TV development for almost four years, and then earned a seat on the writing staffs of the shows Life Unexpected and 90210 on The CW. Most recently, Allen adapted the digital series Zac & Mia for Hulu which garnered him a Writers Guild Award and a Daytime Emmy in 2018. When he’s not writing, Allen’s favorite pastimes include spending entirely too much money on concert tickets, flying home to Texas at the drop of a hat, and wondering what the characters of Friday Night Lights are doing right now.
