Sean Calder first started writing as a means of personal therapy and escape after a spinal cord tumor left him paraplegic for several years. Following physical rehabilitation he attended New York University where he double majored in Dramatic Writing and Journalism. There he spent the majority of his evenings at the New York County Courthouse at Centre Street in Manhattan where he covered whatever cases were up—from DUIs to murder—as a requisite for his Journalism degree. Following NYU he started work on the FX show Damages as a script coordinator and researcher. After Damages he was hired on NBC’s Grimm where he rose from staff writer to producer until end of series. Sean is currently co-writing a book for Simon & Schuster with neuroscientist and TED fellow Rebecca Brachman based on her research into a vaccine for depression and PTSD.
